The area of the open-air Museum of the Cinque Torri begins just beside the chairlift arrival station and can be travelled on easy trails, accessible also to children, whose lengths range from few minutes to half a day.

The paths lead to the defensive trenches, accurately restored on the basis of historical drawings and documents, and to the Italian Headquarters'hut, zigzagging through the towers, one striking panoramic view after another. And then, there are the performances by the climbers up the vertical faces of the towers, a very popular climbing gym.

In front of the Cinque Torri , open gentle slopes with deep green meadows, where one can rest or children can play. Pleasant meals can be enjoyed on the large sunny decks of the mountain inns of the area.

Exhibitions with weapons and objects from the soldiers' daily lives have been arranged in several points of the area.

Among others, the restoration of an artillery emplacement with a 75mm cannon and artillerymen, is worth mentioning.

Signposts with historical information in Italian, German, English and reproductions of drawings and photographs of the period, are placed all along the paths. An audio-guide, in three languages, is also available. The visit to the open-air Museum is free.

Three main visit routes:

The Emplacements Path. The route runs along the original mountain tracks and trenches, leading to the restored artillery emplacement, to the observation posts facing the frontline, and to the artillery headquarters'hut. The itinerary requires 30 minutes to complete, on easy paths with extraordinary panoramic views. Time required 30'

Round trip of the Towers. This path continues the previous one, leading to the lower trench and turning behind the towers where the view of Cortina appears. From there, Rifugio Cinque Torri is reached. During the war, the mountain inn was the Headquarters of the Reggio Brigade and here was lodged Vittorio Emanuele III during his visits to the front. Finally, the anti-aircraft artillery emplacement, before heading back to the chairlift top station. Time required: 2 hours.

Path of the Lake. It is the longest itinerary; its first portion coincides with the Emplacements path, then it descends to the lower trench to reach the forest and the defensive trench crossing the valley as far as Tofana di Rozes. Through larches and fir trees, one reaches the Bai de Dones lake, where the emplacements of the 149mm cannons were placed. From there, the path heads towards the valley station of the chairlift to conclude the itinerary.
